Mohamed Alabbar created Emaar Properties. Before creating the company, the former chairman was heavily involved in tourism and construction. He served as a director of Al Khaleej Investments in Singapore and as an economic consultant to Dubai’s Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His invaluable experience has enabled the corporation to grow global and succeed in its most ambitious projects, such as the Burj Khalifa. As of 2021, Mohamed Alabbar is the company’s Managing Director. Jamal Bin Theniyah is now Chairman of the Board, and Ahmed Jawa is Vice Chairman. Amit Jain is the company’s CEO.

Emaar International LLC was formed in 2004 to take the enterprise global. Emaar Properties currently has over 60 companies and operates in over 36 different markets in North America, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. The company is working on projects in Turkey, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Syria, Pakistan, and the United States. Other well-known projects are Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Gate, Lebanon’s Beit Misk, Turkey’s Tuscan Valley, and Jordan’s Samarah Dead Sea Resort. Emaar Properties expanded its operations into Bahrain and Nigeria in 2015.
